Davis pitches gem
Tyler Davis was in the zone on Friday, striking out nine and only allowing three runs in 8.1 innings, as McNeese State defeated Northwestern State 5-3. Shon Landry was 1-for-4 with 2 RBI to lead the offense.

University of Houston sweeps #25 Central Florida
Houston came through in a big way this past weekend, sweeping their conference rival Central Florida in three games. John Touchton pitched brilliantly in relief in two games, striking out three in two innings. Houston has now won five straight games over ranked opponents.

Cunningham, Zylstra lead Jacksonville State over Samford
Jason Zylstra pitched well in his first start of the season and Todd Cunningham was 2-for-3 with a run and two walks on Saturday morning as Jacksonville State inched out the win, 7-6. In the second game of the doubleheader, they won 11-4 behind Cunningham’s three hits, two runs, and RBI. He also walked once on his way to a perfect game at the plate.

Long Beach State ends losing streak, but lose 2 of 3
Long Beach State got their much needed win on Friday over UC Riverside, 6-3, but dropped the remaining two games to continue their road woes. They have lost 8 of 9 games on their current 10 game road trip, which ends on Tuesday at Loyola Marymount.
