Long Beach State shuts out Harvard
Long Beach State proved again why they’re the #4 ranked team in the country with a 15-0 blanking of Harvard yesterday. It was the 17th win of the season for the Dirtbags, who got contributions from everyone in the lineup. T.J. Mittelstaedt and Kip Masuda, who will both be returning to the Bombers this summer, had multiple-hit games as the Dirtbags offense never let up on Harvard. Mittelstaedt was 2-for-4, scored two runs, and batted in a run as well. Masuda, who got the start at catcher, was just as impressive, going 2-for-4 and scoring a run. Next up for Long Beach State is a cross-state matchup at Pepperdine University today at 5pm.
Longhorns triumph in extra-innings affair
Russell Moldenhauer hit a two-out RBI single with the bases loaded in the 10th inning to win the game yesterday for the Longhorns, ending any hope of an upset for Oral Roberts as the Longhorns won 5-4. Casey Whitmer continues to provide Bomber fans with plenty of reason to be excited about the upcoming summer as he has been stellar in each of outings this season. He demonstrated his ability to pitch well under pressure, striking out two and only allowing one hit in his 8th inning relief appearance.
