Dirtbags extend winning streak to 4
Long Beach
State continued its early season success yesterday, as they defeated
San Diego
State 6-2. Brazos Valley Bomber pitcher Dustin Rasco was brilliant, as always, striking out three hitters in just 1.2 innings without allowing a run. The Dirtbags will begin a pivotal series against UCLA this weekend and several Bombers will look to make an impact.
Landry unable to save
McNeese
State
Shon Landry was fantastic this past weekend, as he collected hits in each of the Cowboys games. The same could not be said of the rest of
McNeese
State ’s team, as they were swept at the hands of the
University of
Texas at
San Antonio . Landry hit a home run and scored three runs on the weekend, but the Roadrunners’ hitting was too strong as they defeated McNeese three games in a row.
Whitmer on the hill
Bomber standout from last summer, Casey Whitmer, got his second start of the season yesterday against
Texas
State and was dazzling. He gave up no runs while striking out two in 2.1 innings as the #18 ranked Texas Longhorns went on to win 9-6. The Longhorns have brought Whitmer along slowly thus far as he has recovered from an injury, but as he is getting stronger with each opportunity.
