Bryan / College Station, TX (July 5, 2020) — The Brazos Valley Bombers won the rubber match in Victoria tonight, 11-4. Brazos Valley unleashed a barrage of home runs, Taylor Smith, Grayson Tatrow and Sean Arnold all went yard in the victory. A 5-run 3rd and 4-run 5th put the Bombers in the lead, they never looked back.
Arnold, the former bullpen catcher of the Bombers was awarded the game’s MVP, he reached base each of the 5 times he stepped up to bat and scored three times. Kelby Weyler had his fourth-straight multi-hit game straight, securing hits seven and eight of the year. He leads the squad with a .500 average.
On the bump, Brazos Valley Starter, Trevis Sundgren lasted 3.0 innings allowing three runs on seven hits. Zach Griggs was lights out in relief. The UTSA Junior threw 2.1 innings, struck out 6 allowing only one hit and one walk. The Generals employed seven different pitchers in an effort to snuff out the bolstering Bombers lineup, to no avail.
The Bombers will play game one against the Frisco RoughRiders Tuesday, July 7th, at 7:05 PM. Gates open at 6:00.
