Rain Can't Dampen Spirits On Acie Law Bobblehead NightAll season long, Brazos Valley Bombers fans have waited for Saturday night’s Acie Law Bobblehead Doll giveaway. They eagerly lined up at the gates of Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark and gathered their cherished collectible bearing the likeness of the former Texas A&M All-American and Atlanta Hawks first-round draft choice. And then the rains came. In the bottom of the first inning, the heavens opened up and washed out the scheduled game between the Bombers and the Colleyville LoneStars. The game will not be made up as part of a doubleheader on Sunday, since the Bombers have clinched second place and a playoff spot in the Speaker Division, while the LoneStars have already been eliminated from the playoff race. On Sunday, Brazos Valley and Colleyville will play their regularly scheduled single game at 3:05 pm. The Bombers will celebrate their inaugural season with Fan Appreciation Day; every fan entering the ballpark will receive a coupon for free ice cream at McDonald’s, and hot dogs and hamburgers will be just one dollar all game long. Fans with tickets for Saturday night’s game may exchange their tickets for Sunday afternoon’s regular season finale. Tuesday the series will come to the Brazos Valley for the first home postseason game in team history – and it’s sure to be a celebration, with both pre- and post-game festivities planned. Prior to the game, the B’s have teamed up with Montelongo’s Fine Jewelry and Candy 95 to present the “Diamond In The Rough” promotion to give away almost $7,500 in gemstones – including a ½-carat diamond worth $2,500! All women 18 and over will be eligible, with 20 finalists guaranteed to win. 19 of the finalists will each receive a “Bomber Blue” topaz worth $250, and one lucky lady will take home a ½-carat round brilliant-cut diamond with a retail value of $2,500. During the game, a Montelongo’s will pendant-mount all of the gemstones so the lucky winners can wear their stones home. Following the game, the Bombers will present fans with another of their patented fireworks spectacular, celebrating Brazos Valley’s first-ever playoff appearance. Tickets for the first home game of the playoffs are on sale now. Playoff tickets can be purchased Sunday at the ballpark, during the week at the team’s office at 405 Mitchell Street in Bryan, over the phone at (979) 779-PLAY, or online at bvbombers.com. The Divisional Series is a best-of-three affair, and if necessary the third game will be played Wednesday in Coppell. The winners of the two Divisional Series move on to the Texas Collegiate League Championship Series beginning Friday, August 10. The team with the better regular season record is the first seed and hosts Game One of the best-of-three series. The second seed hosts Game Two on August 11, and if necessary the decisive Game Three would be played at the home of the first seed on August 12. |
