Bombers Induce Another Rougarou Boohoo at Travis FieldBryan/College Station, TX - June 25, 2019 – A 10-3 Bombers win completed yet another sweep of the Baton Rouge Rougarou to set the Bombers’ current win streak at eight games and advance their record against the stuttering Rougarou to 8-0. The Bombers offense got a jumpstart early with a single from Bryant Shellenbarger in the first that plated Cole Coker. Three scoreless innings passed for the Bombers before the hitting bug began to spread through the lineup. In the bottom of the fifth, Tyler Smith flared a ball over to second that took a lucky hop away from the infielders’ gloves and plated Sam McElreath, who was on second after his second double of the night. Jackson Cullen walked a batter with the bases loaded, and Chase Kemp slipped one past the second baseman for a two-RBI single to give the Bombers a sizable headstart before the Rougarou could end the inning. Cam Haller got in on the fun as a pinch-hitter for new arrival Hunter Dobbins. Haller slapped a triple to the right-center gap that scored Coker in the seventh. Dobbins made his debut in a Bombers uniform Tuesday night. The pitcher out of Texas Tech University appeared in the lineup as a designated hitter and notched his first ever RBI in the navy and gold. “It was honestly beyond my expectations,” said Dobbins. “I’ve always kind of dreamed of playing for the Bombers, coming home, playing for the hometown crowd. Especially being from here, it meant a lot more. Our fans never disappoint.” The Bryan, Texas product played for Rudder High School before attending Texas Tech. Two passed balls in the eighth added two more for the Bombers before Shellenbarger capped off the night with another single to plate two more of his teammates. The Bombers took the contest handily, 10-3. Logan Teske maintained command on the mound for much of the game. The righty allowed five hits over six innings but struck out seven Rougarou batters. The Rougarou were able to plate two during Teske’s run on the mound. Teske said his mindset facing a Rougarou team that scored 12 in two games last weekend was all about attacking. “I tried to pitch to contact, let my defense work,” said Teske “We got great defenders, so I just tried to get ahead and mix all my pitches.” Joe Buckendorff took the mound in relief. The Lamar commit struck out three batters in a row during his lone inning before Christian Vega’s number came up. The Rougarou scored one off of Vega’s arm in the eighth to cut into the Bomber’s lead. Vega struck out two on the night. Dontae Woodard finished off the night for the Bombers with one strikeout and no hits in the game’s final inning. After another sweep of the Rougarou, the Bombers improve to 18-3.
