Mokma throws complete game in 3-2 Bombers Win
Bryan/College Station, Texas(July,16,2017)- The Brazos Valley Bombers defeat the Texarkana Twins off of a stellar performance from starting pitcher, Michael Mokma. Mokma would pitch a complete game giving up only two runs on four hits.
Texarkana struck first in the top of the first inning off of Mike Mokma, but the Bombers starter found his groove from that point on.
The Bombers tied the game in the second inning when Ryan Benavidez drove in Dalton Stark. Michael Helman would give the Bombers a 2-1 lead in the third inning.
Chase Calabuig would extend the lead in the next at bat, driving home Helman, giving the Bombers a 3-1 lead in the 3rd inning.
Chris Andristos had a solid night at first base, recording four unassisted putouts against the Twins throughout the night.
Texarkana would strike for one more run in the 4th inning, but Mokma would shut down the Twins bats for the rest of the night, holding the Twins to only four hits all night and limiting them to two runs.
Mokma would go on to complete the game, pitching all nine innings, giving up two runs on only four hits. The win is Mokma’s fifth win of the season and improves the Bombers record to 23-12. The Bombers take on the Texas Marshals in Plano, Texas tomorrow night.
