Bombers Push Streak to 19
Bryan-College Station, TX (July 24, 2016) – The Brazos Valley Bombers entered Sunday evening with a seventeen game win streak and an opportunity to extend it with a double-header versus the Texas Marshals.
In the first game, which the Bombers won 9-2 and extended the win streak to eighteen games, the Bombers started Austin Kerns on the mound. Kerns struck out eight Marshals over the course of five innings and only gave up two runs. Offensively, Zach McGuire and Garrett McCain drove the game. McGuire hit a solo home run and went 2 for 2 in the game. From the leadoff spot McCain scored two runs and drove two more in while going 2 for 3 over the course of the seven inning game.
Willy Amador started the second game for the Bombers and gave up two earned runs with five strikeouts. He went five innings before handing the ball over to Riley McCauley who came in and finished the game for the Bombers. In what amounted to a pitching matchup the offense was ignited by Zach McGuire hitting a triple and later coming in to score off of a wild pitch. The Bombers entered the top half of the 7th inning with the score tied at two when they put three more runs on the board to push the score to its final of 6-2 and extending the win streak to nineteen.
The Bombers wrap up their series with the Marshals tomorrow night in Plano with first pitch coming at 7:05 p.m.
