Pitching Duel Ends With 14th Straight Win
Bryan-College Station, TX (July 16, 2016) – The Brazos Valley Bombers entered tonight’s game versus the Woodlands Strykers with a thirteen game win streak intact and looking to extend it. The Bombers used five pitchers on the night and the combined effort led to a 3-0 win for the fourteenth straight victory.
Steven Dressler started the game for the Bombers and went three innings, striking out three and lowering his ERA on the season to 1.26. He proceeded to turn the ball over to Willy Amador who pitched three innings, struck out five and picked up the win. Anthony Herrera came in at the beginning of the ninth inning and got his league leading sixth save of the season.
Outfielder Garrett McCain gave the Bombers the first lead of the game with a solo home run in the fifth inning. On the base paths the Bombers had seven stolen bases as team, three of which came from McCain. The last stolen base from McCain came in the ninth inning and was a straight steal of home.
The Bombers are in the Woodlands again tomorrow night to make their attempt at their fifteen consecutive victories. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
