Bombers Vindicate Top-Ten Ranking In Blowout Victory

Tyler, TX (August 1, 2015) - After their two-game series with the Woodlands Strykers was cancelled, the Brazos Valley Bombers looked to extend their four-game winning streak in Tyler against the East Texas Pump Jacks.

The Bombers drew first blood in the opening frame of the ballgame, scoring five first-inning runs to take a 5-0 lead early. They added one more in the 3rd, eight runs in the 5th inning, and four more in the 6th and 7th for a total of 18 runs scored on the night. Ten different Bombers scored runs and eight different Bombers recorded a hit; highlighted by third baseman Garrett Benge, who went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI, 2 walks, and 3 runs scored.

As potent as the Bombers’ bats were on Saturday night, the Bombers’ pitching staff was equally effective, shutting out the Pump Jacks to win the game by a score of 18-0. Mike Walker earned the victory, improving his record to 4-1, while Nick Jones and Blaze Hastings pitched a combined three shutout innings out of the Bombers’ bullpen.

Following the commanding victory on Saturday night, the Bombers’ record now stands at 38-8 overall and 19-4 in the second half. In their pursuit of a second national championship, the Bombers are currently ranked 8th in the nation in the Collegiate Summer Baseball Rankings

The Bombers will complete their series against the East Texas Pump Jacks on Sunday night, then head to Louisiana to take on the Acadiana Cane Cutters before returning home next Thursday, August 6 for Spirit Night, presented by Rattler’s; and Thirsty Thursday, when beer, soft drinks, and margaritas are one dollar all night long, thanks to Western Beverages.
