Jackson Wins Player of the Week Honors
Hard-Hitting First Baseman Slugs His Way to Weekly Award
Bryan-College Station (June 9, 2015) - The Brazos Valley Bombers bolted out to a 5-1 start this season, and first baseman Geonte Jackson has played a major role in the early success the team has enjoyed thus far.
Jackson, a Junior from Texas-San Antonio, was named TCL Player of the Week for the week of May 28 to June 7. Jackson batted .389 and hit the Bombers’ only home run of the week. Jackson has seven hits this season, with three of them going for extra bases. The Bomber first baseman has also driven in four runs and boasts a slugging percentage of .667.
Jackson and the Bombers return to the field tomorrow night in Plano against the Texas Marshals for a double-header, with the first game beginning at 6:05. The next home game for the Bombers will be this Thirsty Thursday, presented by Western Beverages (June 11) when the Bombers take on the Acadiana Cane Cutters at 7:05 pm.
