Timely Hits Evade Bombers on the Road
Bombers Fight Hard in Road Opener but Fall Short
Tyler, TX (June 6, 2015) - The Brazos Valley Bombers played their first road game of the 2015 season Friday night against the East Texas PumpJacks at Irwin UT-Tyler Ballpark.
The Bombers were originally slated to open the road portion of their schedule last Thursday against the Woodlands Strykers, but heavy rain and flooding prevented those games from taking place at that time.
The PumpJacks are a familiar opponent for the Bombers, having faced them on Tuesday night and Wednesday night to open the season. The Bombers were able to defeat the PumpJacks both of those nights, but were not able to do the same tonight.
The Bombers were able to make solid contact and hit the ball hard all night long while benefitting from solid relief appearances by Dakota Mekkes and Heston Van Fleet, but in the end the PumpJacks emerge victorious by a score of 3-1. Tomorrow night, the Bombers will attempt to split the two-game series with East Texas and regain momentum moving forward.
