Bombers To Give Away Acie Law Bobblehead Dolls On August 4The Brazos Valley Bombers want to make sure a little Acie Law always remains in the Brazos Valley. To make that possible, the team will give away Acie Law bobblehead dolls to the first 500 fans through the gates for the Saturday, August 4 game against the Colleyville LoneStars. On Thursday night, Texas A&M fans expect to see the All-American guard selected in the first round of the NBA draft. It will be a bittersweet moment for the Aggie faithful, knowing that one of the best players in school history has concluded his career here and is now bound for the big stage of the NBA. The bobblehead giveaway ensures that fans can always have a memento of Law’s legendary career. Bobblehead dolls have made a comeback in the last five to ten years, and they are now recognized as one of the most prized sports collectibles. Like its bobble brethren, the Acie Law doll will be a detailed depiction of the player in action, all the way down to Law’s signature tattoos on each arm. The giveaway shows Law dribbling in a Bombers-style basketball jersey, wearing his number 1 with the familiar “LAW IV” over it. The base of the bobblehead reads “ACIE LAW,” with a sign showing the sponsor of the giveaway, Brazos Valley Bank. Law leaves A&M as one of the most celebrated players in the program’s history and one of the top players in the country. After leading the Aggies to the Sweet Sixteen in the 2007 NCAA Tournament, Law was named a first team All-American by the Associated Press, the National Association of Basketball Coaches, ESPN.com, The Sporting News, and the United States Basketball Writers Association, among others. He collected the Bob Cousy Award as the nation’s top point guard, the Chip Hilton Player of the Year Award, and an NABC Career Achievement Award. The Dallas native was also a finalist for the Wooden Award and the Naismith Trophy. Called by many the best clutch player in the nation, Law is considered by analysts to be the top senior guard available in tonight’s NBA draft. According to prognosticators, he could be selected as high as the 11th overall pick. The August 4 date with Colleyville is expected to attract a crowd not only because of the bobblehead giveaway, but also because of its importance in the playoff race. August 4 is the second-to-last game of the regular season and it is the front end of back-to-back games with the division rival LoneStars. In fact, the Bombers will meet Tris Speaker Division foes in nine of their last ten games, giving the B’s a chance to cement a playoff berth in their inaugural season. The Bombers are currently tied for second place with Colleyville, 1.5 games behind the Coppell Copperheads. The top two teams in each division qualify for the TCL playoffs. After raining out today’s game in Denton, the Bombers will enjoy a few days off before returning to action at home on Saturday night against the Duncanville Deputies. Saturday is also Bombers Baseball Giveaway Night, where the first 500 fans through the gates will receive a keepsake logo baseball, presented by Infinity Pro Design. Sunday is a Bombers Kids Club Sunday, with kids receiving a D-Bat TCL mini-bat, sponsored by Mix 104.7. After another two games on the road, the Bombers will be back to celebrate America on July 4 at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark. The Bombers will take on the Wichita Falls Roughnecks in a special mid-week afternoon game beginning at 3 pm. |
