Bombers Head Home for Fireworks and 3 Game Home Stand

The Brazos Valley Bombers concluded their two game roadtrip tonight in Kilgore as they took on the East Texas Pump Jacks coming off a 7-4 win over the Texas Marshals last night. The Bombers could not get anything started as they found themselves in an early hole as the Pump Jacks scored five runs in the first. Now the Bombers have an off day tomorrow before starting a three game homestand Friday through Sunday.

The Bombers would score their first run in the first inning. Third baseman Brennyn Smith would hit a single to center and then would come home on another single from shortstop Nick Smelser. The second run would come in the seventh inning. Kevin Knapp who came in for Myles Parma in right hit a ground ball, the the Pump Jack catcher threw the ball past first that enabled Knapp to go to third. Knapp would come home to score on a pass ball when Smelser was at the plate. For the night, the Bombers offense only managed six hits to score the two runs.

College Station native, Brannon Easterling started on the mound tonight for the Bombers. Easterling pitched the first four innings of the game, and recorded four strikeouts. Lefty Andrew Hohn came into the game in the fifth inning. Hohn pitched a solid three innings of relief for the Bombers. Hohn was in command by throwing five strikeouts. Montgomery native, Logan Burch came in to pitch the final inning, while not allowing any runs to score.

Second baseman Corey Toups made a great play for the Bombers with a runner on base in the fourth inning. Toups fielded the ball, then alertly stepped on second base then threw to first baseman Brad Porras for a double play. Brad Porras made a nice play at first when he charged a ground ball then applied the tag at the knees of a Pump Jack trying to reach first.
