Bombers Beat The Strykers For Second Win In A Row

Bombers Beat The Strykers For Second Win In A Row The Bombers concluded their two game series with The Woodlands tonight at American Momentum Bank Ballpark. The game was a bit closer than last night’s game, but the Bombers earned a 4-2 win. With the game tied at 0-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth, the Bombers offense was finally able to put some runs on the board. Shortstop Corey Toups led the inning off with a single. With right fielder Myles Parma at the plate, Toups stole second base and was able to move to third on a single by right fielder Myles Parma. Toups would score the first run when left fielder Brandon Wood came up and hit a sacrifice fly. The next batter, first baseman James Wharton, would come to bat and belt a double that allowed Parma to come home making the score 2-0. Wharton would score the third run of the inning when catcher Braden Mattson hit a triple. The Strykers would get two runs in the top of the sixth which would make the game 3-2 Bombers. The Bombers would get one insurance run in the eighth. Center fielder Quinton Urban, hit a single in the inning. Urban came home on a single by Parma which gave the Bombers a 4-2 advantage heading to the top of the ninth inning. Texas A&M Aggie, Nathan Sorenson, made a spot start tonight due to some injuries on the pitching staff. Sorenson was pretty sharp tonight. He pitched 5.2 innings giving up four hits and two runs. Sorenson struck out nine Strykers. Three of those strikeouts came in the first inning when Sorenson struck out the side. Sorenson was named the H&R Block Never Settle For Less Player of the Game. Derek Mazzio came into the game for Sorenson and recorded two strikeouts in just over two innings of work. Nick Johnson came in and pitched one shutout inning for the save. The Bombers defense made a few errors in tonight’s game, but when the game was on the line, the defense came through for big plays that helped out the pitchers. The Bombers now head to Allen High School for one game with the Texas Marshals tomorrow night at 7:05. The Bombers then travel to Kilgore for one game with the Pump Jacks. The Bombers return home this coming Friday for three games, one with the Strykers and the other two against the Alexandria Aces. All three games will start at 7:05 from American Momentum Bank Ballpark. The game with the Strykers will be a Family Friday brought to you by the George Bush Presidential Library!
