Damien Rivera Voted TCL Pitcher of the Week after Dominating Effort

After a shutdown performance on the mound, Damien Rivera was honored as the TCL’s Pitcher of the Week. It’s his first time to receive the title while playing in the league, and he joins Trey Porras and Alec Mills as Bombers who’ve earned the distinction this season.

The award comes after Rivera stymied the Acadiana Cane Cutters, allowing just two hits in eight shutout innings pitched. The lefty struck out four batters, and walked three as he led the Bombers to a 3-0 victory.

Rivera has been playing outstanding baseball for the Bombers all season long. His 2.04 ERA is the best among starting pitchers, and he’s also tied for the team lead in wins with four. He’s struck out 22 in 35.1 innings of work while splitting time as both a starter and a reliever this year.

He’s clearly caught the attention of the league for his strong performance. Prior to receiving this award, he was selected to the Cricket Wireless TCL All-Star Game. He threw a 1-2-3 inning in the contest, helping the South All-Stars defeat their counterparts from the North teams by a score of 7-4.

Congratulations again to Rivera for winning such a coveted award! Come out to see Rivera and the rest of the Bombers at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark as they make their push for a TCL title!

Friday night is Strike Out Cancer Night at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark, brought to you by Scott & White Health Plan. The first 100 fans will receive mini bats at the contest. Saturday is a very special day at the ballpark, as the team and the fans will celebrate Kaboom’s birthday.
