Bryan-College Station, TX (July 5, 2010) – The 2010 Texas Collegiate League All-Star game turned into a showcase for the five Brazos Valley Bombers invited. Wes Patterson did all he could to give the South the win, but the North scored one in the top of the ninth to force a 7-7 tie.
Patterson showed a sign of things to come in the pre-game Home Run Derby, finishing in second place. When it mattered most, he drove in five runs, one on a double and four more on a grand slam home run. Wes’ performance earned him the honor of All-Star game Most Valuable Player.
As for the other four Bombers, Levi Saenz got the game started on the right foot for the South team as he worked the first two innings of the game without giving up a hit and using only 15 pitches. Ryan Eastman and Matt Passauer continued to represent the Bombers well, also working scoreless innings. Greg Olson put in another solid performance for Bombers batters, working a single in as he went 1-4 on the evening.
While the South team did not get the victory, there is no doubt what team was best represented at the game. The Bombers will look to ride this momentum into the second half as they pursue their first Texas Collegiate League title and head into the second half with the most wins in the TCL.
The Bombers return to action Margaritaville Wednesday against the Alexandria Aces with $1 margaritas all night on Fiesta Night presented by Cricket Wireless. For more information and for tickets visit bvbombers.com, call 979-779-PLAY, or stop by the Bombers office at 405 Mitchell Street in Bryan.
