Alumbaugh Takes Bombers to TCL Playoffs

On the final night of the 2009 regular season, the Brazos Valley Bombers clinched the final spot in the Texas Collegiate League playoffs. The Bombers are in the playoffs for the third consecutive year. The opening round will begin on Sunday, August 9th at the Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark as the Bombers host the Victoria Generals.

The Montelongo’s Diamond Derby is back! This Sunday at the Brazos Valley Bombers’ first home playoff game, Montelongo’s Fine Jewelry will provide 25 lucky fans with $7500 in jewelry which includes 24 blue topazes and the grand prize- a half carat diamond.
The excitement of the playoff game will lead off with the third annual Diamond Derby, which will begin before the first pitch. The contest will commence with a scramble in the outfield, as the contestants will attempt to grab one of the many colored stars placed around the outfield. Following the rush, there will be a drawing that will serve as an elimination process to determine the winners. There will be 25 winners in all, with the luckiest fan receiving the diamond.
Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark is expected to be near capacity in the playoff game with all of the festivities. There will be full concessions and inflatables will be set up for the kids, so don’t miss out the opportunity to enjoy the family experience of Brazos Valley Bombers baseball!
The other first round series will be between the East Texas Pump Jacks and the Coppell Copperheads. The first game of that series will be at Coppell, with the next two in Kilgore.
