Bombers Fall to Cane Cutters 3-2 in High-Intensity Extra Innings Battle

Bryan/College Station, TX (May 31, 2024) – The Brazos Valley Bombers dropped a hard-fought battle against the Acadiana Cane Cutters in the second matchup of the series 3-2 in 10 innings on Fireworks Friday

The Cane Cutters got on the board in the first inning thanks to a sacrifice fly from Bryce Calloway that scored Ashton Quiller to give Acadiana a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the second inning, it was a sacrifice fly from Harrison Griffith that scored Tristan Russell and helped the Bombers tie the score at 1.

The Cane Cutters would answer in the top of the 3rd as Ashton Quiller came around to score on a wild pitch, making it 2-1 Acadiana.

The Bombers saw another great start out of their pitching staff as Taylor Seay went five innings and struck out six, allowing only two runs and three walks. For the Cane Cutters, it was starter Hayden Toal who went four innings, allowing one run and striking out three Bombers.

After the fifth inning, Bomber fans were treated to an electric fireworks display on a beautiful Fireworks Friday night at Edible Field.

In the bottom of the 7th, Jaxon Daigre stole two bases after a lead-off walk and later came around to score on a wild pitch, tying the score at 2, which is where the score would remain through nine innings.

In extra innings, it was Dylan Biddick who came through with an RBI double for the Cane Cutters, giving them a 3-2 lead in the top of the 10th. In the bottom half, the Bombers were able to get runners on second and third, but could not cash in, giving the Cane Cutters their first win of the 2024 season. The Bombers return to Edible Field tomorrow night as they welcome the Lake Charles Gumbeaux Gators to Bryan for their first time in team history. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
