Bombers Commit Uniforms to Two Players from FIU

Bryan-College Station, TX (March 4, 2015) - The Brazos Valley Bombers continue to enhance their 2015 roster with the addition of two outstanding pitchers from Florida International University (FIU).

Brandon Diaz and Danny Dopico, both new to the Brazos Valley, are expected to strengthen an already talented Bombers team as the 2015 Texas Collegiate League (TCL) season draws near.

Junior left-handed pitcher Brandon Diaz, a transfer from Broward College, is positioned to have a large impact on the Bombers this season. During his 2014 season with the Seahawks, Diaz started six of ten games on the mound and struck out an impressive 45 batters in 33 innings.

“Brandon is an experienced arm that really comes at hitters,” said Curt Dixon, Bombers head coach. “He has a 90mph fastball and is real tough on left-handed hitters.”

6-foot-2 right-handed pitcher Danny Dopico is also set to bring his skills and experience to the Brazos Valley for the Bombers upcoming season. Dopico, also a transfer from Broward College, led the Seahawks in appearances in their 2014 season with 19 out of the bullpen – all in relief with 25 strikeouts.

“Danny is a power arm up with a 92-94mph fastball,” Dixon said. “He is a big part of Florida International's bullpen and look for him to do the same for the Bombers.”

The Bombers start their season on the road against the Strykers on May 28. Opening day is set for June 2 against the East Texas PumpJacks after securing a record of 10-3 against the PumpJacks in 2014.
