Bryan-College Station, TX (July 10, 2016)-The Bombers belted out 15 hits to thrash the second-place Cane Cutters 13-4 on our Walk-Off Sunday presented by Ashley Homestore College Station. Dixon walked away with his longest streak of 10 wins at tonight’s game.
The Bombers got going early in the bottom of the first as Ben Hollas hit a bases loaded single that scored Anthony Herrera and Alex Samples. Michigan State’s Zach McGuire would then clear the bases with a three-run bomb over the left field fence, his league-leading fourth of the year. McGuire would finish 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
Hunter Wilson would add a run scoring single in the fourth before Brazos Valley would go to work again in the sixth, scoring six runs. The Bombers showed patience at the plate to score the first run of the inning as Hollas walked with the bases loaded. Tim Lichty would score on a wild pitch and Spencer Hemphill would hit a 2-run single, scoring Garrett McCain and Hollas. Wilson would add his second RBI-single of the game and John Grimsley would knock in the final run of the inning on another single.
Samples led the team with four hits and scored three times. Hollas finished with three RBIs and Wilson and Hemphill had two RBIs and two hits a-piece.
Austin Kerns picked up his first win of the year as he pitched six innings and gave up no runs and struck out five. Keegan Curtis pitched two scoreless innings and K’d four Cane Cutters.
