Bombers Comeback from Five Down to Sweep Acadiana

Bryan-College Station, TX (July 11, 2016)- The Bombers scored three runs in the seventh and eighth innings to pull off a 6-5 come from behind victory on Military Monday sponsored by Citizens Stake Bank.

The win for the Bombers was their 11th straight, the longest streak in Coach Dixon’s time with Brazos Valley.

Cognizant Technology Solutions treated fans that attended the game with a free ticket. The Bombers wore their Military Appreciation Jerseys tonight sponsored by The Barracks Townhome.

The comeback began in the seventh after the Bombers were down to their final out in the inning. Tim Lichty reached base on a single and was followed by another single from Hunter Wilson. Zach McGuire was up next and drove a 3-2 pitch over the left field wall for his fifth home run of the year and pulled the Bombers within two runs. McGuire is now one homer away from tying the Bombers club record for home runs for a season.

Brazos Valley would load the bases in the 8th inning and TCL’s Hitter of the Week Alex Samples hit a sacrifice fly to pull the Bombers within one. Ben Hollas would then take one for the team as he was hit by a pitch to bring in Garrett McCain. McGuire was up and would not disappoint as he hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield that scored Anthony Herrera and gave Brazos Valley the lead for good.

TCL’s Pitcher of the Week Riley McCauley pitched the final two innings for the Bombers, allowing a hit and striking out two as he secured his first win of the year.

Brazos Valley will take tomorrow and Wednesday off before they head out on a 4-game road trip. The next home game for the Bombers will be July 20th for Wings Wednesday sponsored by Smitty K’s Sports Bar and Grill. My BCS Home will be hosting Game Show Night and the Bombers will be wearing Price Is Right jerseys.
