Bombers Break In Nutrabolt With Win

Bryan-College Station, Texas (June 1, 2017)-On a new field of astroturf, in front of a new grandstand, and underneath both a new scoreboard and new light fixtures…the Brazos Valley Bombers did not dissapoint with a 9-1 win over the Texas Marshals.

The scoring started early with a run in the top of the first and some other chances early to scratch across a few more. But a pitcher’s duel ensued as Michael Mokma went 7 innings of one run baseball, and giving up three hits and no walks. His counterpart Jake Dohar went 5.1 innings before being replaced by Chase Morris and then the Bombers were able to get to him.

In the 7th inning the Bombers batted around and scored 5 runs, then followed that up with a 2 run 8th inning to cap things off.

The Bombers bullpen added two more innings of scoreless work to extend their streak to 16 innings now that they have not given up a run.

Mokma earned Nutrabolt Player of the Game honors for having by-far the best outing by any starter the Bombers have seen this season. Some other notables were Thomas Jeffries who went 3-5 with 2 1B, 2B, 1 R and 3 SB. Allonte Wingate flashed the leather at shortstop and also went 2-4 with 2 1B, 2 R, and a stolen base.

These two teams will meet again tomorrow night at 7:05pm right back at Nutrabolt Stadium for a chance to sweep the Marshals and for Super Hero Night presented by …., a night where the Bombers will be honoring their local law enforcement agencies and fire departments. AND the first fireworks show of the young season.
