Bombers Bounce Back to the Winning Ways with a 9-5 Win Over the Marshals.
Not even a six hour bus ride could keep The Brazos Valley Bombers from losing their second straight game. After traveling from Alexandria, Louisiana, to McKinney, TX, the Bombers were able to overcome a 4-0 deficit in the bottom of the first inning to earn a 9-5 win over the Marshals, and quickly get back to the winning ways.
The Bombers offense responded in the top of the second inning following a 4 run first inning by the Marshals. First baseman Brad Porras got the scoring started by hitting a double that scored third baseman Brennyn Smith. The second run came when catcher Braden Mattson scored on a single by second baseman Adam Pena. Shortstop Nick Smelser then came up to hit a single that scored Porras. The last run of the inning came when center fielder Jordan Hammerman hit a groundout that scored designated hitter Myles Parma. The Bombers would score four more runs in the third inning. Mattson came to the plate to smack a hit that caused Brennyn Smith to be out at second. Porras then came to the plate and hit a grounder to right field. Two Bombers then were hit by pitches as Parma and second baseman Adam Pena received free passes. Right fielder Chris Florack came up and hit a shot back to the pitcher who threw it away enabling two Bombers to score. The Bombers would score one more run in the inning. The last run of the evening would come in the seventh inning. After Parma got on with a walk and moved down to second on a sac bunt by Pena, Florack was hit by a pitch. Center fielder Jordan Hammerman then came up to blast a single to right field. Left fielder Brandon Wood would follow with a single to right that would bring Parma around.
Five Bombers took the mound tonight. Starter, Chance Ryan gave up 5 runs in two and a third innings. The Woodlands native, Andrew Godail, came into his first game of the season and put a stop to the offense of the Marshals. Godail pitched two and one third innings giving up no runs. Franco Pace, Derek Mazzio, and Bryan native, Ryan Ullmann finished the remainder of the game allowing zero Marshal runs.
