
England, Schulz, Gonzalez, and Smart bring experience and swing-and-miss stuff to Bryan-College Station
Bryan-College Station, TX (May 28, 2026) – The Brazos Valley Bombers announced today the four additional pitchers ahead of the upcoming Texas Collegiate League season: Kyle England,Lane Schulz, Ruben Gonzalez, and Ryler Smart. The group adds a blend of experience, left-handed options, and strikeout ability.
Kyle England gives the Bombers something they can never have enough of, a left-handed arm with starting experience and a proven ability to miss bats. The senior from Cypress, Texas, put together an impressive season at Lubbock Christian College, striking out 52 batters across 51.2 innings in six starts. England’s ability to work deep into games and rack up strikeouts makes him a valuable pitching prospect. An Information Systems and Technology major, England brings versatility to a rotation that will lean on him heavily as the summer schedule intensifies.
Lane Schulz is one of the most exciting pitching additions the Bombers have made. The sophomore right-hander from El Campo, Texas, has been one of the most dominant starters this season at Midland College, going 5-1 with an outstanding 50 strikeouts across 48.2 innings in nine starts, good for a strikeout rate of 9.25 punchouts per nine innings. Schulz has demonstrated a rare ability to miss bats consistently while logging innings as a starter. A Business major, Schulz has the mentality and the arm to be a great contributor all summer long.
Ruben Gonzalez brings veteran presence and leadership to a Bombers staff loaded with younger arms. The senior right-hander from El Paso, Texas, has competed at UTRGV and brings the kind of experience that only four years of college baseball can provide. Gonzalez is a Criminal Justice major who approaches his craft with the discipline that has defined his collegiate career. His experience pitching in the Southland Conference will translate well to the competitive environment of the TCL.
Ryler Smart rounds out the group and gives the Bombers yet another left-handed option out of the rotation. The junior from Pearland, Texas, previously attended Galveston College and brings a competitive edge. A Business major, Smart has the makeup the Bombers look for in a pitcher and will have every opportunity to carve out a meaningful role this summer.
