After initially being proclaimed the #2 ranked summer collegiate league team in the country two weeks ago, the Brazos Valley Bombers have continued to prove themselves worthy by holding on to their top spot.
The rankings are determined by evaluating four key factors; won-loss record, league dominance, depth and quality of professional-level talent and the overall strength of the league. With a record of 19-3, the Bombers, who continue to be undefeated at home, have remained at the top of the Texas Collegiate League standings all season. Dominance has been asserted both offensively and defensively with 192 collective strikeouts from the mound, 36 doubles, and 13 homeruns. The Brazos Valley pitching staff holds all of the TCL leader spots for wins (4), strikeouts (31), and ERA (0.49). Bombers also hold four of the top six ranks in league RBI (20-15).
With 38 games left in the season, 20 of which will be played at home, the Bombers look to hold the top spot in both the TCL rankings and the national rankings. As the only TCL team represented in the national ranks, Brazos Valley hopes to remain a dominant force for the remainder of the season and clench the league title in August.
The Bombers face the East Texas PumpJacks at American Momentum Bank ballpark at 7:05pm on Tuesday, June 25.
