Bombers take a tough loss to the Rougarou at Home Despite Christian Smith Johnsons 2 Run Homer

Bryan-College Station, TX (June 11, 2023) – The Bombers played their first home game of the weekend after yesterday’s unplanned rain out and unfortunately lost to the Rougarou 9-5 tonight. Brazos Valley left runners on tonight after having almost as many hits as tonight’s victor causing them to take the loss tonight. The Bombers next game is scheduled for Tuesday the 13th in Seguin as they take on the River Monsters that evening. With lots of good hitting from the Bombers tonight at home they look to secure this win on the road as they did last time they were in Seguin this past Thursday. The energy was there tonight and it seems this team is definitely due to take a victory very soon.

Cole Modgling started the train of hits tonight with a base hit through the second baseman and stole second in the first inning. Also in the first Ben Columbus and Cole Plowman walked, testing the Rougarou’s pitching staff and showing their intelligence behind the plate. In the third Christian Smith Johnson continued to prove his dominance in the outfield, robbing a hit from a ball hit deep into center field. He continued to track down deep hit balls throughout the night to show why he earned his center field starting position.

The fifth inning showed great momentum for the Bomber’s offense starting off with a base hit by Robert Oropeza followed by a smoked ball by right fielder Casey Sunseri earring him a hit as well. To continue the energy in the inning Ben Columbus secured a hit, scoring Christian Smith Johnson for the first run to get the Bombers on the board. Jordan Medellin showed his power with a hit that got through the second baseman to advance Casey Sunseri and Jordan Medellin to home, handing the team two more runs getting them back in the game. On the defense side of this game Simon Larranga made a great diving play on first base to close the inning.

In the sixth Simon Larranga showed off his skills by crushing a ball into left field to fall beautifully in the gap. Christian Smith Johnson hit a nuke out of left field for a two run homer to bring home Simon Larranga and made the score 6-5 showing off his athleticism by making crucial plays on offense and defense. Unfortunately runners were left on and not enough defense momentum was made causing the Bombers to fall to Baton Rouge but lots of team chemistry on offense shows a good trend despite the result. The next home game for the Bombers is Wednesday June 14th where Brazos Valley will take on the Cane Cutters if you are interested in coming out and joining in on all the action at Edible Field.
