Victoria, Texas (June 7, 2017)-The Brazos Valley Bombers extended both their lead in the TCL standings and their winning-streak with an 8-4 victory over the Texas Marshals Tuesday night in Plano.
Early on, the Marshals didn’t make it easy as they score the first run of the ballgame in the bottom of the first on a pass ball. Then the Bombers countered by tying the game at 1-1, and then off of a Kyle O’Keefe solo home run, took a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Marshals then answered back with 2-runs in that fourth inning, all coming with two outs to make it 3-2. In the next at-bat the Bombers put up 4-runs in the 5th and 2-runs in the 6th to break it open and make it 8-3.
For the first time in a while the Bomber’s bullpen got some extended work after Dayden Lane’s start. Reid Morgan came in and picked up his second win of the season in relief. He was followed by Gavin Alvarez, Clayton Hill, and Chris Cooper. And despite giving up the first bullpen run in 26.2 innings of work, there was not nearly enough give for the Marshals to make a run
With the win, the Bombers take a full game lead in the TCL standings over Acadiana and Victoria, and have won a league best 7-straight.
The Bombers hit the road and will travel to Victoria Wednesday night to play the Generals for the first time this season. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm and you can catch the pre-game show starting at 6:45pm all on Willy 1550, and radioaggieland.com.
