Perfect Game USA Top 30 Summer Collegiate Rankings has Bombers at #21.
The Bombers have even more to be proud of so far in the first month of the 2012 Texas Collegiate League Season. The Brazos Valley Bombers not only had a great start to their season sitting at 11-4 overall, with a 7 game winning streak after a season opening loss, but they can add national recognition to the list of achievements so far.
Perfect Game USA Top 30 Summer Collegiate Rankings came out yesterday, June 20th, and the Bombers made the list at #21 for the first time in franchise history. Perfect Game is an organization based out of Iowa that is recognized as the country’s top resource for baseball recruiting, particularly at the high school and college ages. The Harwich Mariners from the Cape Cod League, open the season at #1 in the Perfect Game Summer League rankings. The Cape Cod League has a total of six teams in the top 30, with 3 ranked in the Top 5. These weekly rankings consider over 250 Summer Collegiate Baseball teams in 28 different leagues around the country.
Only one other Texas Collegiate League team is ranked in the Perfect Game poll. The East Texas Pump Jacks based out of Kilgore, TX came in six spots behind the Bombers at #27. The Bombers and Pump Jacks have only met one time so far this season, and the Bombers were victorious 8-2 in the Brazos Valley. The two teams meet again this Saturday, June 23rd at American Momentum Bank Ballpark as the Bombers host and look forward to capturing another win over the Pump Jacks.
The Bombers look to continue their run at the TCL Championship with a road trip to the Woodlands for a double header against the Strykers tonight. The two 7-inning games are scheduled to begin at 6:05 p.m. The Bombers then travel to Alexandria to take on the Aces Friday, before they return to the Brazos Valley for a one-game home stand against East Texas. Saturday’s game is Local Heros Night brought to you by TEEX as well as Kids Free Saturday thanks to Chicken Express. The game is scheduled for a 7:05 start at American Momentum Bank Ballpark.
