Plano, Texas (July 27, 2017) – Chase Maddux leads the way with complete game gem as the Brazos Valley Bombers take down the Texas Marshals 3-1 on the road.
The Bombers started the evening off by trading zeros back-and-forth between Maddux and the Marshals’ starter Alex Harper-Cook up until the 4th inning with two outs. Blake Clanton kept the inning alive with a 2-out double, then scored off a Jermayne Ward single to right, taking a 1-0 lead into the home-half.
Then in the top of the 7th, after Ward was gunned down trying to swipe home, John Grimsley moved to second for Dalton Stark. Stark then drove a hanging changeup over the right field fence for his first home run of the season.
Maddux set a new season high with 9 strikeouts and only surrendered 2 walks and 3 hits along the way. With the win, he improves to 3-2 on the season and the Bombers became the first TCL team to reach 30 wins this season as well.
With a Generals win in Victoria, the Bombers hold the 2.5 game lead in the Baylor Scott & White TCL Standings with 10 games remaining in the regular season.
The Bombers and Marshals meet for one final time during the regular season Friday night at 7:05pm and will be looking for their sixth stright win and their fourth straight to start the longest road trip of the year.
