Bryan/College Station, TX – March 28, 2019 – The Bombers are thrilled to announce the addition of two outstanding left-handed pitchers from Texas A&M to their roster for the 2019 summer. Chris Weber and Joseph Menefee are spending their spring playing at Blue Bell Park for the Aggies, but they will call Bomber stadium home during the summer.
“We are extremely excited and fortunate to have our Aggies,” said head coach Brian Nelson. “Texas A&M Baseball and their coaching staff have been such great supporters of the Bombers and the Texas Collegiate League. It’s a lot of fun getting to watch former and future Bombers play this spring at Blue Bell.”
Freshman Chris Weber has already made an impact for the Aggies early in the 2019 season. He has made 8 appearances for the Aggies, including 4 starts, where he has struck out 28 batters in only 23 innings. The Boerne-Champion High School product joined Texas A&M after an extremely successful high school career where he posted a sub 1.00 ERA and 355 strikeouts in three varsity seasons. Weber made the 2018 5A All-State Team and in 2017 joined fellow Aggie and Bomber teammate, Joseph Menefee, on the Texas Rangers Area Code Team.
Menefee, the Katy, Texas native, attended George Ranch High School and put together a high school career that garnered many honors. In 2017, Menefee went 8-0 with 75 strikeouts and a 1.44 ERA on the mound while he hit .430 with 18 extra base hits and collected 29 RBI at the plate. That season saw Joseph earn the District 23-6A MVP while making the Under-Armour Preseason All-American Team and the Texas Rangers Area Code Team. Menefee also represented USA Baseball on the 18U National Team. Menefee has made 10 appearances and carries an ERA of 2.03 for the Aggies so far in 2019. In 13 innings of work, he has only given up 9 hits while striking out 18 batters.
When asked about these two particular incoming Aggies, Bombers’ Pitching coach James Dillard said “Menefee and Weber are both young, elite talents. They both have the ability and potential to be difference makers in the Texas Collegiate League.”
