Bryan-College Station, TX (July 4, 2014) – Despite an 11 strikeout performance from starting pitcher Cody Brannon, the Brazos Valley Bombers (23-7) fell to the Victoria Generals (23-9) 1-0 in 10 innings Friday night.

“It was kind of back and forth there for the first ten and a half innings,” said Curt Dixon, Bombers head coach. “Cody Brannon did a great job. We tip our hats to their guy as well. There late, we did some things uncharacteristic of us and gave them a run. That’s the way baseball works sometimes—we’ve got to get back and get after it tomorrow.”

Brannon and Generals starter Kris Looper went back in forth in a pitcher’s duel for the majority of the game, both surrendering just three hits in their seven and nine innings of work respectively.

Victoria was able to get a pair of runners on with no outs in the bottom of the 10th after a hit batter and a walk. Designated hitter Justin Pacchioli then brought in the winning run with a sacrifice fly as the Generals and the Bombers split the two game series.

The Bombers will travel to Dallas to begin a two game series with the Texas Marshals Saturday night. First pitch is at 7 p.m. at Gary A. Pasqua Field at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas.
