Bryan-College Station, TX (June 15, 2023) – The Bombers win tonight with a 2-1 victory over the River Monsters earned by their resilience to not give up even late in this tight game. The weather tonight made it difficult for balls to fall that would normally go out of the park in the favor for the Bombers making it difficult to convert with gusts up to 26 mph tonight. Both teams had a difficult time with that weather making it a very low scoring game. Despite that, the offense was able to consistently make contact with the ball hitting several deep balls and supplemented by good pitching by Trent Thompson not a lot of hits were allowed for the River Monsters which resulted in a win.
The Bombers were consistent in their at bats tonight making contact with the ball the whole game. Cole Modgling proved his dominance at the plate logging a base hit tonight to help the Bombers get positive momentum going. Hunter Autrey is new to this team for the season but has already made a great impact earning a double in the second inning and a line drive to left field in the fourth as well as a run to help the Bombers secure the victory tonight. Casey Sunseri continued to show why he is a power five player tonight stealing several bases and logging a base hit in the fifth inning.
The positive momentum kept throughout the whole game paid off by the Bombers scoring late in the game allowing them to propel their score above the River Monsters! The way the Bombers were able to secure the win tonight was when Christian Smith Johnson hit a ball perfectly placed up the middle scoring Conner Westenburg who pinch ran for Cole Plowman and Hunter Autrey late in the 8th proving how clutch this team can be! The Bombers will take on the Cane Cutters tomorrow on the road to continue the good energy that was definitely present tonight.
