Bombers Rout Marshals 11-1

Bryan/College Station, Texas (July 19,2017)- The Brazos Valley Bombers returned home after two games in Plano to host the Texas Marshals. Brandon Ivey had another solid outing for the Bombers going eight full innings allowing just 1 unearned run.

The Marshals would score first when Taylor Broadway crossed home plate on a passed ball, but that would be all Landon Minor would allow.

The Bombers aggression on the base path continued in the 4th inning as a double steal resulted in a throwing error from the Marshals third basemen Taylor Broadway, allowing Jared Mang to score and tie the game a 1-1.

The game would remain tied until the 6th inning when Chris Andritsos drove in Ryan Benavidez on a sacrifice fly and give the Bombers a 2-1 edge after 6.

The Bombers would extend their lead in the 7th inning after Kyle O’Keefe and Dalton Stark got on base to start the inning. Michael Helman would score O’Keefe and later in the inning, Jared Mang would drive in two more runs giving the Bombers a 5-1 lead over the Marshals.

The patience at the plate would pay off for the Bombers in the 8th inning, sending 11 batters to the plate and drawing 3 walks and Calabuig reaching base after a hit by pitch. The awareness on the base path would result in two runs scoring on passed balls and with RBI doubles from both Mang, and Andritsos, would give the Bombers six runs in the eight inning for eleven total runs.

Dayden Lane came in relief in the 9th inning and retired the Marshals in order to secure the 25th victory of the season for the Bombers.

Landon Minor would get his first win of the 2017 TCL season, going eight innings with 10 strikeouts, allowing just 1 run and only 5 hits.
