Bombers Pummel Generals to Cap Undefeated Homestand
Bombers Honor Late Supporter in Style
Bryan-College Station, TX (June 5, 2015) – For the second time in four days, the Bombers break out the brooms as they sweep the two-game series with the Victoria Generals. The Bombers experienced a power surge tonight at Cellucor Field, scoring 16 runs to win the game by a score of 16-1.
The Bombers wore last season’s uniforms featuring the initials “PM”, in honor of late Bombers supporter Pete Muñoz. The jerseys were auctioned off during the game with the funds going towards a scholarship in Pete’s name.
Two University of Texas-San Antonio players highlight the Bombers successful evening on the field. First baseman Geonte Jackson was named Cellucor Player of the Game, going 3-5 with a double, 4 RBI’s and the first home run hit at Cellucor Field this season. Pitcher Chance Kirby started the game for the Bombers and pitched seven innings, allowing only one hit, with no earned runs and 7 strikeouts to boot.
As explosive as the Bombers offense was this evening, there were more fireworks happening at the ballpark after the game as well. Fedstar Credit Union sponsored the first fireworks spectacular of the 2015 season and it was quite an appropriate close to the evening and the homestand for the boys in Navy Blue and Vegas Gold. FedStar also sponsored a classic car show before the game.
The Bomber will be on the road for a few days before returning to the friendly confines of Cellucor Field next Thirsty Thursday, thanks to Western Beverages, when they take on the Acadiana Cane Cutters. That night will aso be Alpacalypse Takeover at Cellucor Field, presented by Royal Oaks Alpacas.
