Bombers Pitch In For Heart Rock

Bryan-College Station, TX (February 28, 2007) – The 2007 Heart Rock Gala (www.heartrock07.org) is right around the corner, and the Brazos Valley Bombers are ready to pitch in.

The Bombers announced today that the team will donate the chance for one lucky fan to throw out a ceremonial first pitch this season as part of the Heart Rock Gala’s live auction. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the American Heart Association.

“This is a very special opportunity,” said Bombers co-owner Uri Geva. “How often does a fan get a chance to take the field just before a game begins, step to the mound, and fire a strike with an entire ballpark full of people watching?”

“The chance to throw out a first pitch before a baseball game is usually reserved for celebrities, dignitaries, and sponsors,” added general manager Mike Lieberman. “This gives one lucky fan the chance to be the VIP of VIPs with the Brazos Valley’s only sports franchise.”

The first pitch opportunity will be available during the Heart Rock Gala’s live auction. KaBoom, the Bombers popular mascot, will be on hand to reward the winner.

The auction winner will be able to choose from nearly any game of the Bombers inaugural season schedule for the first pitch honor. Just before the beginning of the game, he or she will be escorted to the mound by members of the Bombshells promotional team. The Bombers PA announcer will introduce the lucky fan, who will deliver the ceremonial first pitch to a waiting Bombers player behind the plate. The winner and three guests will then get to enjoy the game from some of the best seats in the house.

The Bombers are members of the nine-team Texas Collegiate League, one of the nation’s premier summer collegiate circuits. Teams like the Bombers bring minor league baseball-style entertainment to communities throughout the country, giving some of the best college players a chance to further their careers in wood bat leagues in front of Major League scouts. The Bombers begin their 48-game inaugural season on June 5 against the Coppell Copperheads. The team’s historic home opener will take place on June 8 when the Bombers welcome the Duncanville Deputies to Travis Field.
