Bombers Look to Bounce Back After Coming Up Short

For the second night in a row the Bombers were part of an early pitching dual with the Acadiana Cane Cutters. Just when there seemed to be no runs in sight, both teams find home plate and battle it out during the 6th and 7th innings.

A five inning stale mate wasn’t the ideal start to last night’s game against the Acadiana Cane Cutters, but the Bombers showed no signs of backing down. In the bottom of the 6th inning the Cane Cutters scored the first run of the game on a pass ball. However, the Bombers quickly responded and put two runs on the scoreboard. Matt Smith led off the 7th with a base hit and was moved to second by Horacio Correa III. Blake Kopetsky then doubled to score Matt Smith, putting the Bombers on the board and tying the game. Next up was GR Hinsley who doubled to score Kopetsky with two outs.

Unfortunately, the Bombers would not see home plate again while the Cane Cutters would go on to score 4 more runs in the bottom of the 7th to win the game. Logan Burch started for the Bombers on the mound pitching six strong innings only giving up 3 hits and 1 run with 1 strikeout. Nick Johnson came in for two outs in the bottom of the 7th and was relieved by Andrew Hohn who closed the game out for the Bombers without giving up a run.

The Bombers face the Texas Marshalls on Thursday, July 18 at American Momentum Bank ballpark at 7:05pm.
