Bombers Give a Beat Down in The Woodlands

The hits don’t stop in the Woodlands following a come from behind walk-off win last night as your Brazos Valley Bombers waste no time in the scoring game against the Woodlands Strykers. In the top of the first inning, second baseman Horatio Correa III started off the hitting with a single, right fielder Patrick McLendon connects for a double, landing him on second and moving Correa to third. First baseman G.R. Hinsley, remaining hot from his walk off hit against the Victoria Generals last night, with a two RBI single to get on the board with a score of 2-0. Catcher Alex Mercado reaches first on an error by Strykers right fielder, which brought up center fielder Graham McIntyre who ripped a three-run home run, his third homerun of the season, bringing the score at the end of the first to a 5-0 off Woodlands pitcher Will Hibbs.

Hunter Hagler, playing third base for the Bombers starts a two-out rally with a solo home run, his first of the season. Following the homer, left fielder Herb Romero has a double, shortstop Matt Eureste follows with an RBI single. The RBI’s don’t stop there as Correa connects for a double to pick up an RBI and extend the lead to 8-0 in the second.

After a pitching change by the Strykers, Hinsley reaches second base on a fielders choice in the top of the fourth and after just missing a long home run in the third inning he straightens it out in the fourth for a two run home run making the score 10-0 in the fourth. The Strykers finally respond to the bombers offensive explosion when designated hitter Landon Merka hits for a single, reaches second base on a wild pitch and left fielder Brian Smith knocks him in with a RBI single to  put the Strykers on the board and make the score 10-1.

With another pitching substitution by the Woodlands, pitcher Jake Cosart walks the first four batters to walk in a run and give Hinsley another RBI in the game. Mercado follows with a sacrifice fly to bring in McLendon and make the score 12-1 at Strykers stadium. The Strykers bring in position player, right fielder Dirk Masters to pitch for the injured Cosart. Romero gets an RBI on a wild pitch as Melton is into score followed by a two RBI single also by Romero giving the Bombers an impressive score of 15-1.

Strykers answer late with four runs in the bottom of the eighth. Caleb Hawkins, pitching for Burch hits Robert Heep, then walks Merka and Travis Winnon to load the bases. Smith then has a three RBI double followed by Taylor Taska who has an RBI double to top off the scoring in the eighth inning making the score now 15-5.

Guillermo Trujillo earns the win with six innings pitched, giving up three hits one run with two walks and nine strikeouts. Logan Burch came in to pitch in the seventh giving up no hits, no runs and striking out one. The eighth inning was thrown by Caleb Hawkins who gave up two hits, four runs, two walks and one strikeout. Andrew Hohn closed the game giving up one hit, no runs with one strikeout.
