Bombers Freeze Generals’ Rally on Frozen Night

Bombers Take Early Lead, Hold off Generals’ Comeback

Bryan-College Station TX (June 13, 2015) – The Brazos Valley Bombers continue their hot start to the 2015 season with their second consecutive win at Cellucor Field against the Victoria Generals in front of a wonderful crowd on Frozen Night, presented by Fazoli’s and Kids Free Saturday, thanks to Chicken Express.

The Bombers scored in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings to take a 6-0 lead before the Generals fought back with four runs in the 7th to cut the lead to 6-4. The Generals threatened the Bombers lead again in the final inning, but leftfielder Tyler Bates made a diving catch with the bases loaded and two outs in the 9th to preserve the Bomber victory.

Catcher Tyler Lawerence was named Cellucor Player of the Game, going 2-4 with a walk, a run scored, an RBI, and a stolen base. Pitcher Austin Kerns started the game for the Bombers and went six strong innings, only allowing five hits and two runs. Dakota Mekkes recorded his first save of the season for the boys in Navy Blue and Vegas Gold.

As previously mentioned, tonight was Frozen Night at the ballpark, brought to you by Fazoli’s, with special appearances by Olaf and Princesses Elsa and Anna. Kids 13 and under were able to get in free to tonight’s game as part of Kids Free Saturday, thanks to Chicken Express.

omorrow night will be the finale of the four-game homestand and Date Night + Seniors Free Sunday, presented by Petal Patch. Baseball Bingo will also be taking place on the grounds of Cellucor Field tomorrow night, thanks to Brazos Bingo. First pitch will be at 7:05 pm.
