The Bombers pulled off a rally to tie the game after a seven point deficit, but were unable to grab the win as the PumpJacks squeak by in a 10-9 defeat.
Beginning with a struggle, the PumpJacks led the Bombers until the fifth inning when Matt Smith drove Patrick McLendon in. Despite the effort, the Bombers still trailed 7-1. The sixth inning started the Bombers’ incredible comeback attempt with a single from G.R. Hinsley immediately followed by a home run from Blake Kopetsky. After a series of passed balls and errors from the Pump Jacks, the Bombers closed the gap to 7-5. In the seventh inning Brett Kauten and Blake Kopetsky both achieved 2 runs to make the score 9-7. The Pump Jacks failed to score in the bottom of the seventh, bringing up the top of the eighth and what seemed like a last chance for the Bombers. Brett Kauten hit a single allowing Ford Moore to advance to second. Kauten and Moore then both stole to advance to second and third. Both were able to come home after an error by the PumpJacks catcher, bringing the game to a tie at nine. Unfortunately, the glory did not last long as the PumpJacks brought in a run in the bottom of the eighth, defeating the Bombers.
Jason Gareri of Northwood University started the game for the Bombers, pitching 5 innings with 7 strike outs and only four walks. Andrew Hohn, Caleb Hawkins, and Shay Maltese each pitched one inning to end the game for the Bombers. Hohn had two strike outs and Hawkins and Maltese each had one.
