Bombers Drive the Win Streak Up to Four with a Walkoff in the 9th
Bombers Fight Back Down 4 Runs and Sweep the Cane Cutters
Byran/College Station- July 22, 2019 – The Bombers offense took flight tonight against the Cane Cutter as they blasted 2 home runs to lead the Bombers to victory. Clutch hitting is definitely the key for tonight’s game as the Bombers scored 7 runs off of runners in scoring position or a home run. A little lightning in the area truly boosted the Bombers bats tonight as the offense was truly the spark plug for the Bombers tonight.
The Bombers offense opened up with a bang tonight as Bryant Shellenberger blasted a 2-run home run to cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the third.The Cane Cutters tried to blow game open as they took a 7-4 lead in the bottom of the 7th, but the Bombers continued to fight as Sam McElreath hit a 3-run homerun to tie the game up at 7-7.
In the bottom of the ninth, the final lightning struck as Hunter Dobbins drove in the winning run with a line drive to left field to walk it off for the Bombers. Bombers offense was unstoppable tonight with 8 runs while totalling 12 hits.
Tyler Cauley collected two hits tonight and scored two runs. Sam McElreath drove in 3 RBI’s with towering blast in the seventh inning. Cam Haller came up big in the leadoff spot by getting two hits and an RBI and aso scoring a run in the third inning. Hunter Dobbins lead the offense tonight, getting on base three times with two hits and solidifying the Bombers win tonight when he drove in Cole Coker to end things in the ninth.
Pitching for the Bombers tonight was led by Henry Bird has he pitched 5.1 innings and collected 7 strikeouts but also allowing 7ER. Bryce Bennett came out of the pin with a strong 2 innings and getting 4 strikeouts while allowing only 3 baserunners. Zach DeLeon pitched the last 1.2 innings and striking out 3 to send the Bombers to the bottom of the ninth.
The Bombers will try to extend their four game winning streak as they will hit the road to Victoria to take on the Generals in a two game road trip.
