Bryan-College Station (August 12, 2016)- Brazos Valley showed no mercy leading up to the TCL Championship game as they pounded out 19 hits and 16 runs to shutout the Texas Marshals.
The Bombers finished the regular season with a 47-7 record.
Due to impending inclement weather this weekend, the Bombers will play the Acadiana Cane Cutters tomorrow night at Nutrabolt Stadium for a one game, winner take all, TCL Championship. A Bombers win will be their fourth title in a row, a TCL record. The game will feature a “Fill the Bus” Back-to-School theme. Like all Saturday home games-Kids Get In Free, Eat Free & Play Free thanks to Chicken Express.
Tonight the Bombers celebrated Aggie Night hosted by Cognizant Technology Solution. Brazos Valley traded their traditional blue jerseys for maroon ones.
Texas A&M’s Tim Lichty and Tristan Metten owned their school night from the middle of the lineup. Lichty went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in the second, an RBI single in the third and a sacrifice fly in the sixth. Metten matched hit teammate in hits and RBIs and also got on a base with a walk.
Mark Whitehead celebrated his birthday in style with a 2-for-3 night that included an RBI and a run scored. Anthony Herrera had three hits including a bases loaded clearing triple. Logan Bottrell had two hits at the top of the order with three runs scored and an RBI. Zack McGuire had two hits and scored two runs.
Brady Tedesco picked up his second win of the year as he pitched five innings and struck out six Marshals.
