Bryan-College Station (July 27, 2016)- The Bombers came out early and jumped on the Strykers, scoring nine runs in the first three innings en route to a 14-7 win over the Woodlands.
The Bombers celebrated Faith and Family Night along with a Mascot Olympics thanks to Sit Means Sit College Station. Thank you to our fans that traded four food items for Brazos Valley Food Bank in order to receive one free admission ticket to tonight’s game.
Zach McGuire put the Bombers on the board first with a 2-run single that scored Garrett McCain and Anthony Herrera. McGuire also added an RBI double in the third as he combined for four hits and 5 RBIs against the Strykers in two nights. The Michigan State product now has 39 RBIs on the year, one shy of the league lead.
The Bombers broke the game open in the second inning as they plated six runners. Herrera got the scoring going with a single that scored Hunter Uzzle. Logan Bottrell scored after a Tim Lichty hit to second base turned into an error. Ivan Estrella was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, the second time the Woodlands hit him in the game. Tristan Metten would then walk in a run, scoring Herrera. Uzzle would then close out the inning with a 2-run single that scored Lichty and Estrella.
Jake Baxter added his first home run in the bottom of the sixth and the Bombers added another four runs in the seventh. Herrera recorded his second hit on the night with a 2-run double, scoring Mark Whitehead and Bottrell. Herrera scored three runs to go along with three RBIs. Riley Schaefer added an RBI double and Metten contributed an RBI single.
The Bombers will have two days off before they host the Acadiana Cane Cutters on Kids Eat Free Saturday by Chicken Express and Walk-Off Sunday presented by Ashley Homestore College Station. On Saturday, the CHI St. Joseph Health System will host Strikeout Cancer Night as the Bombers will wear Strike Out Cancer jerseys that will be available for auction. The Batter’s Box will host a TCL Junior Homerun Derby on Sunday. Game times this weekend will be at 7:05pm.
