Bombers Aim to Capture Wins in Final June Home Games

Bombers Aim to Capture Wins in Final June Home Games.

The Brazos Valley Bombers opened a three game home stand tonight at American Momentum Bank Ballpark against the Victoria Generals. Fans came to the game to enjoy a $2 Tuesday and Crazy Inflatable Night thanks to Bounce-A-Lot, but unfortunately the Bomber faithful saw the team lose the game 12-8 late in the game.

Right hander Brad Vachon started tonight’s game pitching solid. In his second start of the season, Vachon pitched five innings while striking out 3 Generals. Montgomery native, Logan Burch came in the pitch the sixth inning. He was followed by Andrew Godail who threw two strikeouts in his inning of work. Right hander Luis Dejesus recorded one strikeout in the eighth inning. Nathan Sorenson and Franco Pace helped close out the game for the Bombers, but the Generals were able to score six runs to take a 12-8 lead in the top of the ninth.

The Bombers offense had a great night at the plate scoring a total of 8 runs in the ballgame. The Bombers scored their first run when designated hitter, Bobby Butvin hit a double to right center that scored catcher Braden Mattson who got on after hitting a single to leftfield. After center fielder Chris Florack got to second base he came home on a ground ball hit by left fielder Brandon Wood that went off the glove of the General shortstop who then lost the ball thus giving Florack enough time to make it home. In the bottom of the fourth third baseman Brennyn Smith hit a double to right field. Butvin then came to the plate and was safe at first after an error by the third baseman. Florack then came up and stroked a single to left field that allowed Smith to score. Right fielder Quinton Urban drew a walk which brought Wood to the plate. Wood smashed a pitch to the left field ally gap that resulted in a three run triple. In the fifth inning, Butvin smoked a pitch over the right field fence for a solo homerun. Florack would then hit a double down the left field line and scored on a single to right field by Urban. Despite the offensive plays, the defense struggled in controlling the errors allowed.
