Bombers Celebrate Super Hero Night in Style

Bryan-College Station, TX (July 10, 2010) – The Brazos Valley Bombers celebrated Super Hero Night with Brazos Valley Police and Fire officials, Wally Moon, and Reggy the Purple Party Dude, but the party was spoiled by the East Texas Pump Jacks as the home team came up short, 4-8.

The Game began with a ceremonial first pitch by the National League 1954 Rookie of the Year Wally Moon after Moon spoke with the team. Moon beat out Hank Aaron and Ernie Banks for the honor in the 1954 season. During the game fans were part of the fun as Reggy kept the laughs coming all night long.

The Pump Jacks got things started with one in the third to earn an early 0-1 lead. They tacked on three in the fifth, one in the sixth, and three in the seventh to stretch the lead to 0-8. The Bombers looked to be stuck in neutral until the home half of the seventh.

In that inning the Bombers pushed four across with two RBI singles by Greg Olson and Wes Patterson, a wild pitch, and an RBI walk drawn by Morgan Mickan, making the score 4-8. The Bombers were unable to get anything going in the next two innings though and took a tough loss to their new rival, the Pump Jacks.

The Bombers will be back in action at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark on Saturday, July 17 against the Victoria Generals on Kids Free Saturday. All children will receive free admission, a free meal, and free tickets to the Kids Zone courtesy of Chicken Express.
