Bombers Celebrate Little League Night with Awards N More

Bryan-College Station, TX (June 23, 2010) – Over 1600 fans joined the Brazos Valley Bombers in celebration of Little League night presented by Awards N More as the Bombers lose a hard fought battle (1-2) despite great pitching by Andrew Massey and Alec Mills. Fans received baseball stress balls from Awards N More and saw posters of the players mentioning their favorite Little League moments and inspired on-field contests.

The Bombers quickly found themselves in a hole after the Texas TomCats jumped out to an early 0-1 lead in the first. The Bombers were unable to get anything going until the fifth inning, when they pushed Rodarrick Jones home on a Morgan Mickan RBI single to tie the game at 1-1. In the top of the sixth, the TomCats answered back with a solo home run to regain a 2-1 lead.

Wes Patterson led off the seventh with a single, and Mickan reached second base on a dropped pop fly in the eighth, but the Bombers were unable to capitalize in either inning. In the bottom of the ninth, Jacob House reached base on an errant throw by the shortstop with two outs in the inning, but the Bombers ran out of luck, grounding out to end the game.

Lost in the loss was the outstanding pitching by Massey and Mills. Massey went six strong innings, giving up just two unearned runs. Mills stepped in the seventh and finished the game, recording three consecutive innings without allowing a baserunner.

The Bombers will be back in action at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark tomorrow night as the team takes on the North Texas Copperheads On Twilight Night. Twilight Night at the ballpark will be a celebration of the upcoming release of the next movie in the Twilight series, Eclipse.  It will also be Thirsty Thursday, presented by Western Beverages, with $1 beer and $0.50 soft drinks all night.
