With a thrilling fifth inning rally, the Bombers speed past the PumpJacks Tuesday night to clench their tenth victory of the season.
The two teams started out neck and neck by each scoring two runs in the first. A double by G.R. Hinsley brought in Patrick McLendon then a single by Horacio Correa III allowed Hunter Melton to come in. After the PumpJacks evened the score in the bottom of the inning, they advanced their lead even farther in the second when they brought in three more runs to bring the score to 2-5.
With the bases loaded in the top of the third, Blake Kopetsky slammed a single that brought in Brett Kauten to close the gap by one. However, East Texas continued on their hot streak by adding two more to the board in the bottom of the fourth. After being behind the whole game, the Bombers finally ripped open a rally in the top of the fifth to take the lead.
The rally started after multiple walks brought in the first run, then a single by Matt Smith, a fielder’s choice from Matt Eureste, a single by Patrick McLendon, a walk for Brett Kauten, and 2 RBI for Hunter Melton rounded out the rally. After running through the whole lineup plus more, the Bombers took the lead in the fifth 10-7. In the top of the seventh Brazos Valley sealed the victory by adding one more run when Melton reached on a double then was knocked in on a single by Hinsley. With fourteen hits the Bombers took down the PumpJacks 11-7.
