The Bombers swept the Victoria Generals on Saturday night in Victoria. Only allowing the Generals to get two runs, the Bombers closed out the game with an 11-2 victory.
The Bombers got on the board early in the game with two runs in the first inning by Horacio Correa III, who scored off of a sacrifice fly to center field from Brett Kauten. Shortly after, a double from G.R. Hinsley drives Patrick McLendon in from first. In the second inning, Horacio Correa III hit a double that brought home Alexis Mercado.
The rally continued for the Bombers in the third inning with two runs from Brett Kauten and Blake Kopetsky. The Texas Marshalls were able to get on the board in the fourth with a run by J.B. Moss. Brazos Valley responded with two runs in the top of the fifth by G.R. Hinsley and Blake Kopetsky. After a run by Patrick McLendon in the sixth, the Victoria Generals brought in their final run of the game at the bottom of the seventh. In the seventh, Brett Kauten stole third and was brought home after G.R. Hinsley hit a single. The final two runs by Matt Eureste and Horacio Correa III ended the game with an 11-2 win for the Bombers.
Bryce Rutherford pitched for seven innings and had eight strikeouts. Caleb Hawkins came to the mound in the eighth, followed by Nick Johnson in the ninth with one strikeout.
