Bryan-College Station, TX (March 18, 2015) – The Brazos Valley Bombers are thrilled to announce the addition of two players to the 2015 roster as they continue to create an outstanding team for the upcoming season.
Coming to the Brazos Valley from Cochise Junior College will be sophomores Louis Boyd and Darick Hall. In their 2014 season with the Apaches, Boyd and Hall played significant roles in leading Cochise to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) World Series.
“[Louis Boyd and Darick Hall] are both very talented and proven players – both players of high character,” said Curt Dixon, Bombers head coach. “They are all that we look for when bringing players to the Bombers for the summer.”
Sophomore Louis Boyd, a shortstop from Vancouver, British Columbia, is set to bring his expertise to the Bombers this upcoming season. In 2014, as a freshman at Cochise College, Boyd was named to the NJCAA D1 Junior College World Series All-Tournament team. Throughout his freshman season with the Apaches, he posted a .343 batting average with three home runs and 13 stolen bases. Boyd has signed with the University of Arizona for their 2015-2016 season.
Darick Hall is a 6’5” right-handed pitcher (RHP) from Hereford, Arizona. During his freshman season with the Apaches, Hall compiled a .321 batting average with five home runs and 50 runs batted in (RBI). In addition, Hall was 6-4 on the mound while posting a 3.29 ERA in 82 innings of work. Hall has signed with Dallas Baptist University for their 2015-2016 season.
“We look forward to having [Boyd and Hall] come over and join us in our quest to three-peat as Texas Collegiate League Champions,” Dixon said.
The back-to-back Texas Collegiate League champions will host the East Texas PumpJacks at Cellucor Field for the Bombers home opener on June 2 after securing a record of 10-3 against the PumpJacks in 2014.
