Bombers ‘Epic Extravaganza’ Defeats Generals At Cellucor Field
Hilston’s Home Run and Kirkpatrick’s Mound Dominance Lead Bombers to Victory
Bryan-College Station, TX (July 28, 2015) – Following a sweep of the Woodlands Strykers and an off-day on Monday, the Brazos Valley Bombers continued their pursuit of a ninth consecutive half-season championship and third straight TCL title on Tuesday night at Cellucor Field against the Victoria Generals. The Bombers held a one-game lead over the Generals for the second-half lead going into Tuesday night.
After being kept off the scoreboard the first two innings, the Bombers exploded for eight runs over the subsequent five innings to defeat the Generals by a score of 8-1.
TCL Player of the Week Matt Hilston only went 1-for-3 on the night, but he scored three runs and hit a two-run home run in the 3rd inning, his third on the season. Callaway Kirkpatrick threw eight and one-third solid innings, only allowing four hits, one run, and striking out nine Generals.
Following another dominant victory on Sunday night, the Bombers’ record now stands at 36-8 overall and 17-4 in the second half. The victory extends the Bombers second-half lead over Victoria to two games.
On the promotional and entertainment front, Tuesday night was Epic Extravaganza Night, thanks to Oldham Goodwin; as well as Trophy Tuesday when the Bombers honored local community members for their recent accomplishments.
Wednesday night will be the second game of a two-game homestand as well as Strike Out Cancer Night, sponsored by St. Joseph’s Health System. Wednesday is also Weenie Wednesday, with 90 cent hot dogs to celebrate Citizen’s State Bank’s 90th Anniversary.
